What “Approved Supplier” means

Every business in this directory has been looked at by a person before it was listed. This page says what that does and doesn't tell you.

Approved

“Approved Supplier” means the business has been reviewed and accepted for inclusion in the directory according to the site’s listing criteria.

It does not mean:

  • guaranteed workmanship
  • guaranteed service quality
  • financial endorsement
  • inspection of every vehicle or service
  • insurance or warranty
  • a recommendation over another supplier

What we look at

A person reads every application. Before a business can be listed it has to give us:

  • the business name, a contact name, a phone number and an email address (the email is never shown publicly)
  • the town, postcode and county or region, and whether the business has a workshop, is mobile, or both
  • at least one area it covers and its main category
  • a short description and a full description of what it does

The reviewer checks the details are complete and make sense for the categories chosen, and that the listing doesn't say anything misleading. They may ask for changes before approving, and they may reject an application.

What we don't check

We don't visit workshops, inspect work, test products or see a business's insurance. Descriptions are written by the businesses. Accreditations, such as a trade body membership, are stated by the business and marked as such on its page. Please check what matters to you with the business before you hire it.

After a business is listed

A listing is public while its yearly package is paid. We can pause or remove a listing that breaks the directory terms. If something on a listing is wrong, or you had a problem with a listed business, tell us.
